Catherine “Katay” Burg
Tall, blond, classy and always impeccably put down, Katay Burg was one of the most popular breeder-judges we had for many years. She could always be counted on to find the quality in any entry and was a pleasure to have on one’s judging panel given her quick wit, fun personality and great eye for a dog.
Katay worked for a large department store in Portland, Oregon but eventually got her all-breed handling license from AKC. Katay and her then husband, Kerry Burg, were successful smooth breeders as well as handlers. She is pictured above with her BIS bitch, CH Fiddlers Hill Cinnamon Bun.
Katay turned in her application in 1969 for approval as a Dachshund judge. She became a multi-group judge and was actively judging well into the 1990s. She is pictured above at her last DCA assignment in Jacksonville, Florida in 1989, where she judged longhaireds and inter-variety.
