There are some people that you just have no bad memories of and  Michael Zollo was one of the people who always made you feel good when he was at the Shows.

For our remembrance of Michael Zollo, please read our page on him and some of his more prestigious wins on our Handler’s page:

Next on the list is what the Dachshund Standard says about the Temperament and what we should do with the dogs we are showing. This paragraph is very interesting and says so much about what we need to be showing and NOT showing.

This is one paragraph I would really pay attention to. Read about Dachshund temperament here:

A Post about Some Old Pictures

TDHP looks back at some old Pictures and decides what is good and valuable and asks if these are things we should want in our current dogs. The article has some ideas about what the owner looks for in each picture and why it is important to him and WHY it is important to even the Breed today.

Read about the pictures here:

We hope it proves interesting and also hope it provokes some questions from the readers.

It is with great pride that we announce that we have ONE THOUSAND members on our TDHP Facebook Group page. It really does show that we are making a difference and that people really like to compare our dogs with the best of the past.

We are so excited to have so many people watching the Dachshund History Online website and our Facebook pages. We hope everyone is helped by the information gathered and the sheer number of people looking makes us all try a little harder to keep adding things and show more and more history of our great Breed.

Seeing all the people fascinated by the history of the Dachshund does mean that we will keep getting more pages into the mix and really show off where we came from. The approval of so many makes us all realize that we are not doing this alone and that you guys ROCK!!!

The Dachshund and its Front

After getting questions about the Dachshund’s front, Dan wrote about what he looks for ( and also what he wants to find when he is looking) in going over the Dachshunds in his ring. It is a long article and he used some Boondox dogs to show what he is seeking and why he is seeking it there.

Hopefully this article will bring all the aspects of the front to the fore and shows what we all need to be breeding for:

Sad News Today

TDHP would like to extend our sympathies to Miki Perry and Eric Henningsen, owners of DC Jagie’s Sunissed Phoenix ROMO. He passed today and there is a huge void in the fancy of Standard Smooth Dachshunds. He was a great producer and sired many Champions for those in the Northwest.

We are sending good thoughts to you and hope you have some good ones to replace him!
