Thanks to Dianne Graham for noticing the omission of her own CH Diagram Lessa of Pern MW ROMO from the list of All Time Top Producing MW bitches!  She has now been added.

Please, if you think we have overlooked one of your dogs or someone else’s, let us know and we will correct the omission since our goal is to be as accurate as possible

We allow and encourage anyone or any club to link to TDHP.  Please just shoot us an email (via the Contact page) to let us know you are doing so.  However, we do not want any of our information reproduced in part or in whole on any other website.  In other words, you can list links all day long, but if you want to copy and paste from our site to yours, you cannot.

Thanks in advance!

After having sent 20 + more ROMs to them last night, we would be remiss in not thanking Bob and Ann Wlodkowski (the DCA ROM committee) for really pitching in and processing the over 300 dogs we have added to the ROM program in such a timely manner!

We didn’t imagine we would be adding so many and I am sure that they didn’t either!!

Thanks

We are overwhelmed by the positive response we have received about The Dachshund History Project and especially appreciate all the offers to help us with this huge undertaking!

At the present time, we most need assistance in two areas.

1. Please look over your dog’s ROM pages and let us know any corrections that are needed such as whether the birth date is correct, whether the breeder or owner  is correct and whether any Champion offspring have been overlooked. Feel free to send in a short bio (250 words or less)

2. Please submit photos of your ROM dogs as well as any of your dogs that have won RW or above at DCA  (including Best junior). There are directions on how to submit photos on the Submissions tab on every page.

This site belongs to all serious Dachshund fanciers and we want to include input from as many people as we can. Include your dog in this effort to help educate the breeders that will come after us!

Guidelines for Submissions to TDHP

These guidelines will remain on a permanent page on the top navigation, but we wanted everyone to see it right away, given the volume of questions coming our way.

Guidelines For Photographs Submitted to TDHP:

  1. Please email us the highest resolution .jpgs you have as attachments
  2. We prefer a minimum of 200 dpi and at least 1000 x 750 pixels
  3. Please indicate if you want the entire photo used or if you just want the dog cropped
  4. If you choose to use the entire picture, please identify the show, judge and handler

The submitter must agree he/she is the lawful owner of the photo or is authorized to publish said photo and that we cannot be held responsible for copyright issues. We will immediately remove a photo if it was wrongfully submitted.

If you need our email address to send an attachment, please use the Contact form to let us know you have an attachment to send and we will email you our address.  We are trying to control spam to this inbox so we do not miss any of your emails!

Guidelines for ROM/X/O Corrections or Additions:

  1. Please send any corrections for current pages via the form on the Contact page.
  2. If you have an upgrade for a current ROM or ROMX, please send a copy of the application to us when you send it to the Wlodkowskis so that we can remain as current as possible in our tabulations.
  3. For any new ROM/X/Os submitted, we would appreciate being copied on them so we can add them to the ‘Eligible/Pending’ List until we get confirmation of their official status. Please include a picture and a short bio (250 words or less) if you can. Once you receive confirmation of the designation, please let us know and we will move the dog’s page from the pending list to the appropriate category.

The First 18 Hours!

Wow!  What a whirlwind!  We are so excited and grateful so many Dachshund people spent time on TDHP right away.  In less than 18 hours, most of which were overnight hours, we have had almost 2000 page views on the site. We are completely blown away!

As you look around, please be aware of the following:

  • We are still editing longhaired ROM/X/O dogs for formatting.  Some of those pages aren’t so pretty just yet.  Please don’t be alarmed if they look odd.
  • Clicking on any picture on the site will bring it up larger in Lightbox style.  If you click on a picture that does not come up larger, please let us know via the Contact page.
  • We are working furiously on a Phase Two project that will put a four or five generation pedigree on each of the ROM/X/O pages.  Watch for this down the road.
  • We are working on a public Facebook page for TDHP, so folks can keep up with additions to the site without subscribing to a RSS feed.

We welcome feedback, so don’t be shy!  If you have high resolution photos you would like to send, let us know via the Contact page and we will send you the email address directly.  To avoid spam, we don’t want to put the address on the site.

THANK YOU!

A few months ago, Dan Harrison started posting (to Facebook) some pictures of great dogs from the Golden Age of Dachshunds, which led to a series of questions concerning the Top Winning and Top Producing Dachshunds of all time.  It became obvious to a few of us that there was nowhere we could go to get the answers we were seeking.  There seemed to be a need for this type of information to be available in an easy-to-access way.

In mid-November, we started planning and working on such a place. It is this website, filled with information on our breed’s abilities in all venues open to competition, and it celebrates the accomplishments of the breed’s best along with the people and kennels who truly had such a positive influence on the Dachshund breed.

We quickly realized that this site was always going to be a work in progress.  Its success depends on everyone feeling they have a vested interest in making it as accurate and as comprehensive as possible. In other words, we want your feedback and we want to know where we need to add things, what subjects you want covered and whether our information is accurate.

Look around and check your dogs’ pages in the ROM section and see if we have listed all the offspring.  Feel free to send us a picture for the page as well as a short bio (please keep it at under 250 words).  Look at the Top Producers list and see if there are missing CHs that you can add. The DCA pages are under construction, but plans are for there to be pictures of Reserve on up for every DCA for which we can find the information. Roam around the performance sections and see the accomplishments recognized…there will eventually be pages for each OTCH, MACH and CT Dachshund.  What notable kennels and breeders do you want to know more about? Please, we want this to be an interactive site and we will depend on your feedback to let us know what everyone finds informative and useful.

Look around and see what we have in store, but remember, it is still under construction. We will be anxious for your feedback, but please be patient, as this is just the beginning!

Closer and Closer….

We are getting close to our official launch!  We have set up a page to accept contributions, both of information and funds.  In the next couple of weeks, ROM/X/O pages will be fully edited for format.  Please note that very few ROM pages are fully complete.  We need the help of owners and breeders to fully flesh out the individual ROM pages, so please send us pictures and bios for your ROM designees!

Please feel free to look around the site, and should you have information you think we help us with pages, please share!

We are particularly looking for stories you might have on some of the great kennels of the past.  Inclusion criteria demands that these kennels no longer be actively breeding or showing.

If you have ideas on other subjects to include on this site, please let us know via the Contact page.

We hope you are enjoying your time here and we hope you come back often.
