Born in the fall of 2000 in Northern California to breeders Karyn and Jeff Dionne, MBISS AM & CAN CH SOUVENIR OF WAGSMORE, ML, ROMO is the culmination of generations of fine dogs and excellent, conscientious breeding. His pedigree, found on this site illustrates the coming together of outstanding kennels such as Wagsmore, Glenavan, Sleepytime, and Suntura in addition to older, valued lines.
Completing his championship in early 2002, he was shown locally that year, always creating a buzz. He took an AWARD OF MERIT at his first appearance at Westminster, 2003, and followed that with a BOS TO VARIETY at DCA 2003, and an AWARD OF MERIT at Eukanuba. He completed the year in the TOP TEN LONGHAIRED DACHSHUNDS, BREED and ALL BREED.
For the next three years, Souvenir or “Souvie” was in the TOP FIVE NATIONALLY RANKED LONGHAIRED DACHSHUNDS, BREED AND ALL BREED, and in 2005 was the NUMBER ONE LONGHAIRED DACHSHUND, BREED. THE FIRST MINIATURE LONGHAIR in decades to have accomplished this. He was also the TOP MINIATURE DACHSHUND, ALL COATS, 2004 and 2005.
His stunning win of BEST OF VARIETY at DCA in 2006 put him in a select group. A miniature dachshund had not won VARIETY at the National for a decade and only FOUR miniature longhair dachshunds have won Variety at the National since l982. Souvie’s multiple BEST IN SPECIALTY SHOW VICTORIES, his numerous GROUP ONE’S, and his CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP establish him as a versatile, stable, remarkable athlete.
In 2012 Souvie received his REGISTER OF MERIT OUTSTANDING (ROMO), only the fourth miniature stud dog acknowledged in the Newsletter. Having won TOP STUD DOG IN SHOW at the National in 2008, Souvenir is very proud of his get who have gone onto win major victories including BISS, BOS TO BREED, GROUP PLACEMENTS, GRAND CHAMPION, AND BOV. The successes of his sons and daughters speak to the excellence of this “little guy”!
